As the new Assistant Principal of Westview Hills Middle School, I am thrilled to begin the school year with Maercker School District. It is my pleasure and honor to become a member of this great school community. Westview Hills enjoys a rich history of academic excellence-a result of collaboration between the school, families and community. During my first weeks in the district, I have already realized this working relationship and a real focus on what is best for children. I look forward to working with all of you to provide the best possible education for our students.
Following graduation from Marquette University, I began a career with Ernst & Young. After a few years, my passion for working with students drew me to the education field. My first position was at a charter school in Milwaukee and following a move to Chicago, I took a position in Chicago Public Schools. Shortly thereafter, I began a career with Naperville School District for the next six years, completed my master's degree at Benedictine University and developed my leadership skills. While teaching in District 203, I served as a team leader and participated in leadership training. My experiences as a teacher leader led me to seek new challenges leading a learning community.
On a personal level, I have been married to my husband Andrew for nine years and have two wonderful sons. Henry is three and has just recently started preschool and Lucas is eleven months old. Andrew currently works for the Chicago Architecture Foundation as the Director of IT. In our free time, we like to bike, play sports and are music fanatics.
As an educational leader, I firmly believe that effective communication, problem-solving skills and the integration of technology are essential to prepare our learners to succeed in the 21st Century. To achieve this, I am passionate about fostering learning environments that are rigorous, student-centered, collaborative and innovative, both at school and in the home. Ultimately, I want to ensure your child receives the highest quality education, as well as the opportunity to grow on a social-emotional level. I am a strong believer in the home-school-community connection. I would love to meet you. I welcome emails, phone calls and/or visits the next time you are in the building.
