The Department of Teaching and Learning is responsible for the curriculum review and adoption process, curriculum implementation, assessment, management of the NCLB Consolidated Grant (Title I, Title II), and professional development.  

Maercker District 60's curriculum is designed and developed with teachers and administrators who serve on district curriculum committees.  All curriculum is aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards. The district is in the process of aligning all content areas with the newly adopted (June 2010) Common Core Standards . Committee members establish essential learning targets, written in student-friendly language, identify activities and instructional resources.  All instructional resources undergo a vigorus review process and are approved by the Board of Education.  

Maercker District 60 has established and maintains a balanced assessment plan which includes both outcome, growth, and progress monitoring assessments.

Professional development in Maercker District 60 is provided for all faculty and staff on an on-going basis.  The district provides numerous professional development delivery options to meet the needs of all faculty and staff.
