The District offers the option of purchasing an extra milk on a daily basis for $0.30.  The lunch cost is $2.65 which includes (1) milk. If your child purchases extra milk, they will be charged at the time of purchase.  Your child(rens) lunch purchases and payments can be viewed through Family Access by selecting Food Service.

MAERCKER SCHOOL DISTRICT 60
FY13 FOOD SERVICE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN

Over the next 18 months there will be some exciting new changes to Maercker District 60's lunch program. Click here for more information.

Update:

I wanted to take a moment to let you know that the District Food Service Redevelopment Plan has reached its second stage. Beginning on January 8th, our Maercker Intermediate School kitchen will have been converted and will begin offering choices to its students. Maercker students will not only be able to choose from our four (4) main entrées but will now be able to choose all the components of their meal. These side components will include daily fresh fruit, juices, and applesauce options. Be sure to look at the January food service menu for our daily options. A copy of our January food service menu is attached. These changes have been very well received at Westview Hills Middle School which has had these offerings since the beginning of the school year.

These changes to the food offerings and student selection process will be new for our students. It is expected that it will take a week or so for them to become accustom to the new process which will extend the time it takes for the students to move through the line. This was the case for both the Summer Academy and the start of the year at Westview. Our Maercker kitchen staff have participated in cross training and worked at Westview to see the new process in person. They are ready to assist the students as they become used to the new process and are excited about the changes.

Another significant change to our food service program for our staff is the addition of three (3) new A La Carte items that will be available at all three schools beginning on January 8th. Staff (only at this point) will be able to purchase any of the following items on a daily basis:

· Individual Hot Dog – Cost: $1.00

· Individual Turkey & Cheese Sandwich – Cost: $1.25

· Individual Small Salad – Cost: $1.75

· Individual Milks are also still available for purchase

This is an exciting time for our District as we improve our food service offerings while decreasing our waste and overall expenses.
