5Essentials Survey

January 22, 2015

Dear Maercker School District 60 Community,

The Illinois State Board of Education is conducting a survey of learning conditions called the Illinois 5Essentials Survey.  This is a tool, developed by researchers at the University of Chicago, providing schools with data on five leading indicators for school improvement: Effective Leaders, Collaborative Teachers, Involved Families, Supportive Environment and Ambitious Instruction.

Please click on the link below to take the survey which is estimated to take approximately 20 minutes.  There will also be an opportunity to complete this survey at the Science Fair on February 7, and at the Fun Fair on February 21.  We need to have a minimum of 30% of our parents participating in order to receive results, so please help us access feedback by participating.

Sincerely,
Jamie Reilly, Ed. D.Superintendent

GUIDELINES FOR SCHOOL CLOSINGS IN INCLEMENT WEATHER

Dear Parents,

1) If area superintendents are scheduling a conference call to discuss school opening, I will let you know of that, and inform you immediately once a decision has been made.
2)  If there are a variety of opinions regarding the weather and a decision won't be determined until the morning, I will try to notify you by 6:00 AM and no later than 6:30 AM.
3) If there are days where we unexpectedly wake up to excessive snow, ice, cold, or other inclement weather conditions, I will, again, do my best to contact you as close to 6:00 AM as possible.
4) Any time you feel the weather conditions are unsafe for your child to travel to school, please keep him/her at home, notify the school office, and it will be an excused absence.

Please remember that I always welcome your emails (jreilly@maercker.org), and phone calls (630)515-4842(w) or (630) 248-7783(c), so feel free to contact me at any time.
