HALLOWEEN DANCE TONIGHT!
6:00 - 8:00 PM IN THE COMMONS $3.00
The dance will begin at 6:00 and students should have their transportation home from the dance pre-arranged for 8:00 when the event ends. Students are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to the dance. There will be a costume judging at the dance and prizes will be awarded for outstanding costumes. The gym will be open for students to socialize or play basketball.
Students must remember that costumes, make-up, hair coloring, or anything associated with dressing up for Halloween is to be done AFTER school ends on Friday. Please leave costumes and decorations at home during the day. You may only wear them at the dance. Additionally, all Halloween costumes worn on the evening of the dance MUST be in accordance with the school dress code. If a student arrives in a costume that does not fit within the school's dress code, they will be denied entrance to the dance and will have to call a parent or guardian to be picked up and taken home. We want everyone to come to the dance and have a great evening, but the expectations that we follow so well during the school day, are still in effect at all school activities. The gym will also be open for students to socialize or play basketball.
If your student is choosing to wear a costume, we encourage you to help students with their decision in choosing a costume that promotes healthy attitudes, good taste, modesty and safety. Some examples of inappropriate costumes would be: costumes promoting guns or violence (including words or props), those that violate dress code (i.e., midriffs or undergarments showing), or full face masks that obstruct vision or where we are unable to identify students. Please check that your child's costume meets the expectations before you leave your home.
There will be a special raffle, too! Any student who brings a non-perishable food item to the dance will be given a special raffle ticket. Near the end of the dance, a ticket will be pulled and the winner will receive your choice of either a $20 iTunes gift card or a $20 Target gift card.
We look forward to seeing the students for this fun and exciting event!

Boys' Cross Country Team Excels at State Meet
The Westview Hills Boys' Cross Country Team traveled to the State Cross Country Meet in Bloomington, Illinois. Our Wildcats took their opportunity very seriously and were prepared to race well.
Leading the way for Westview was Jammie Slack in 11th place overall. For placing in the top 25 runners, Jammie earned "All State Honors." Jammie also ran his fastest time ever of 10 minutes and 55 seconds for 2 miles. Matthew Cangelosi was next to finish for the Wildcats in 35th place. Matthew also ran his personal best time of 11 minutes and 23 seconds. Ben Cosentino finished next with his personal best time of 11 minutes and 42 seconds. Chinmay Amin ran an impressive time of 11 minutes 53 seconds and Aaron Lu finished the scoring for Westview Hills with his time of 12 minutes and 15 seconds. Jonathan Tatooles and Bradley Davis both ran gusty races and did a good job of finishing.
Overall, Westview Hills placed 11th in the team standings. This was an incredibly fast year at the State Meet and our boys should be proud of how well they raced! A special thanks to Borislav, Samy, and Piyush for being great teammates during the meet and helping out. It was a great end to a very successful season. Congratulations, boys!
Anna Gruchala Represents WHMS Girls X-C Team at State
Congratulations to Anna Gruchala for finishing in 93rd place out of over 200 runners on Saturday in Bloomington-Normal at the IESA State Cross Country Meet. Her time of 12 minutes and 59 seconds was a personal best and marked the first time during the season that any Westview Hills girl runner ran sub 13 minutes for a two-mile course.
