    DuPage County Launches 211
    On Nov. 15, DuPage County launched 211 – a free, confidential information and referral service that will provide a central access point to local health and human services 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. Read the full press release     here.

    Rent Assistance
    So many families have experienced financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. For those who have fallen behind on rent payments, the Illinois Rental Assistance Program may be able to help keep them in their homes.  
     
    The     Illinois Rental Payment Program provides financial assistance for rent to income-eligible Illinois renters and their landlords who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Illinois renters may be eligible for up to $25,000 and 18 months of emergency rental payments under the program. This is a grant that does NOT have to be repaid.

    Our Student Services staff is committed to learning all they can about post-pandemic needs and supports, and ensuring that students who may be feeling scared, nervous, anxious, or hesitant about the return to school know exactly where to find support. A top priority of our planning effort is the social and emotional aspect of our students’ learning and development.

We are now partnering with ReferralGPS, which provides assistance with finding vetted mental health professionals based on a variety of factors including cost/insurance, distance, and area of specialization.     A resource for parents: 

    Covid-19 has created a new set of challenges for schools and campuses, including an increased need for mental health and community support for students, parents, and the community. At the following link, you will find free mental health, public health and basic needs resources. Click here to access.
    Research shows that students feel less stress and can sustain their attention longer when practicing mindfulness in the classroom. Calm for Schools has made a library of mindfulness exercises available at no cost to help students maintain focus in and out of the traditional classroom. You can access the materials here.
    988 Coming to Illinois
    The Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Mental Health (IDHS-DMH) plans to launch 988, a national three-digit dialing code for the Lifeline and for calls. Individuals experiencing a crisis or any other kind of emotional distress- whether that is related to suicide, mental health and/or substance use crisis can dial 988 for support. The Lifeline provides information and support to concerned family, friends, and caregivers. Please find more information     within this flyer, as well as fact sheets in English and Spanish.
