Maercker District 60 Celebrates Inclusion and Abilities Week

Presentation to students

Students in all of our schools have been learning about and celebrating inclusion and embracing all abilities! Each school has activities and opportunities for our staff and students to reflect on the power of inclusion and honoring different abilities.

Schools also welcomed guest speakers Nancy Goodfellow and Michelle Anderson who presented on intellectual disabilities and differences and emphasized that the more a child understands, the more they accept. Students learned about respect, not using hurtful words, the proper way to ask questions, and how to befriend someone who may have significant differences.

Our staff work hard to prioritize the power of inclusion and honoring abilities throughout the year. Whether it is providing one-on-one instruction to students in a specialized setting, or providing opportunities for adaptive PE or assistive technology, we value having every student be able to learn their best in our schools!
