Two Assistant Principals Appointed for 2019-20
Maercker School District 60 has announced the appointment of Megan Hansen and Ashley Lamorte as Assistant Principals at Holmes Primary School and Maercker Intermediate School, respectively.
With these new appointments, current Holmes Primary Principal Dominic Sepich will transition into the role of principal at Maercker Intermediate as Principal Margo Giannoulis moves on to a role outside of the district. Current Holmes Assistant Principal Laura Gilmartin will step into the role of Principal at Holmes.
Megan Hansen has been appointed as Assistant Principal at Holmes Primary School. Hansen’s teaching career began in LaGrange School District 105, where she taught grades 2-5. She later became LaGrange District 105 Summer School Principal and finally, a facilitator for Quantum Learning Network. She is vacating her teaching role at Ideal Elementary (District 105) to join D60. Hansen earned her degree in Elementary Education from University of Iowa and later received her English as a Second Language endorsement from National Louis University in 2012, as well as a Masters in Administration in 2017. “Everyone can learn, and it is up to us as educators to figure out how to meet all of the students where they are”, says Hansen of her educational philosophy.
Ashley Lamorte will join D60 as Assistant Principal at Maercker Intermediate School. Lamorte began her career in Flossmoor SD 161, where she taught a variety of grade levels. She later earned her Reading Specialist Degree from Concordia University. She worked with struggling K-4 readers as a reading specialist within Troy School District 30C for three years. In 2017, Lamorte earned her Masters in Educational Leadership from University of St. Francis (IL) and is currently in her third year as an instructional coach, working alongside PreK-4th grade students and teachers at Shorewood Elementary School. Hansen looks forward to becoming an administrator so that she can positively impact both students and staff.
“Ms. Hansen and Mrs. Lamorte emerged from a field of over 80 applicants for our two vacancies. They each have a proven track record of working collaboratively to advance student growth and achievement in their respective districts, and share our district’s optimistic, can-do attitude and drive for continuous improvement”, says District Superintendent Sean Nugent. “They will join our administrative team at an exciting time as we open two newly expanded and renovated schools, and I look forward to partnering with them to advance our district mission and vision.”
Effective date for the newly appointed roles is July 15th, 2019.
