Construction Update - 12/7/18 (Click for more)
November has been a very successful month in the continuation of the Holmes School addition work. Despite early season cold weather and one snowstorm, the project has continued moving forward.
The sitework contractor completed mass excavation of the building site along with demolition of all site utilities required to be removed. They began excavation for footings, foundation walls and piers. Abbey Paving began rebar, forming and pouring of footings and foundation walls.
Despite the great progress made this month, it came with the loss of three days. Two existing septic tanks were encountered resulting in work stopping for two days waiting for DuPage County to provide direction to the contractor. Additionally, the 8” snowfall that fell Sunday, November 25th resulted in another weather delay.
The on-site camera for the Holmes project has been installed. The camera is currently set to take progress pictures every 10 minutes. I will also be creating a time-lapse video to show monthly progress. I will share this video every month in these updates. For now, you can click on this link to see the progress pictures. Use the navigation arrows to move backwards or forwards to view the 10-minute increment pictures. When you first click on the link, you will see the most recent picture. There won’t be the ability to move forward, but you can use the navigation arrow on the left side to go backwards in time.

On November 30, 2018 the Village of Westmont provided Maercker SD#60 with the sitework permit. Work began on Monday, December 2, 2018. As a result of this permit delay, the project has lost 36 days of work on the project. Gilbane will be evaluating an updated schedule to determine the extent this extensive delay has towards the completion of the project.
