Here’s some awesome news about the Westview Hills band program! The Illinois Music Education Conference, held in late January in Peoria for our state’s All-state musicians, also features over 150 clinics and performances presented on a wide variety of best practices. Each year several school ensembles are selected for the honor of performing at IMEC, and we are very excited to be able to showcase our band as an example of excellence to the rest of our state. This achievement reflects the dedication of the Westview Hills band students, parents, staff, and the entire Maercker community for their support of music education in our school district!

Let’s hear it for former Wildcat and 2024 high school graduate Melina Knickelbein who graduated from Lyons Township High School. She will be attending DePaul University to major in K-12 Physical Education with a minor in Health Education & Dance Endorsement. Her dream is to start a dance program at a high school where one doesn’t already exist.
She was a part of the graduation ceremony and took part in SIGNing (American Sign Language) the National Anthem after taking four years of ASL. She has also completed her sixteenth summer dance recital and enjoyed being a part of the Eurythmics Dance Company at LT. She has assisted and taught dance classes at the Dance Center of La Grange. Congratulations Melina and we are so excited that you want to pursue a career in education!
