Last night, the Gold Band and Jazz Band put on an amazing winter concert that truly showcased the talent and dedication of our students.!
The evening concluded with a joyful sing-along that brought performers and audience members together and created a memorable sense of community. Kindergarteners have been learning all about animals, including the six groups of animals (mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates) and what they need in order to survive. They learned that they need healthy food, clean water, clean air, a safe place to sleep, and space to move around. These students now know what makes an animal alive, what makes an animal an animal, and how an animal is alive like a plant, but how they are very different! #d60learns

Second graders have been studying matter and properties of matter. Their final assessment was to improve on a structure to hold as many books as possible after assessing the properties of each material, including paper and popsicle sticks! #d60learns
A huge shout out to the 7th graders for winning the November attendance challenge at Westview Hills Middle School. Their prize? The unique honor of getting to duct tape Dr. Scott to the wall. They enjoyed every second of it!

The Westview Hills Student Leadership Team has done many different things throughout the year to celebrate and support our community. Their latest endeavor was a Grinch movie night (afternoon) fundraiser benefiting the Maercker Giving Tree. The awesome community of Westview came together to enjoy a movie and raised $541 along the way. Many students recently submitted writing to the Indian Prairie annual Write-On competition, and we are proud to share that there were a few winners from Westview Hills!
Eighth grader Sreyashi was the overall winner in the 7-8 grade short stories category, and placed second in poetry.
Sixth grade students also had a great showing. Alec placed first in the 4-6th grade short stories category, Rosie placed second overall for poetry and Glori also placed in the top three for her poem. Congratulations to all the winners! #d60learns
