Welcome to Maercker School District 60! We proudly serve portions of Westmont, Willowbrook, Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale, Darien, and Unincorporated DuPage County.

Our district began as a one-room schoolhouse in 1855. As farms gave way to neighborhoods, we grew into three schools serving nearly 1,500 students. Through all these changes, one thing has remained constant: our community’s strong support for public education and our shared commitment to doing what’s best for every student.

For those who may not know me, I am Dr. Sean Nugent, and I have proudly served as Superintendent of D60 since 2016. Prior to this role, I was the Principal of Westview Hills Middle School from 2010-2016. D60 is more than just the place I work – it’s home. I have spent the past 15 years supporting our students, staff, and families, and remain fully committed to our continued success.

I hold degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (B.A.), Governors State University (M.A.), and Illinois State University (Ed.D.). Before joining D60, I taught in Chicago Public Schools and Summit Hill School District 161, and served in school and district leadership roles in Troy30-c.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife Maureen and our three kids. You will often find me coaching their sports teams, cooking for my family, or enjoying time on the water. I am also a lifelong fan of the White Sox, Blackhawks, and Fighting Illini.

Our strategic plan, adopted in 2023, guides our work. We are committed to making sure every student has the tools, supports, and opportunities to succeed. Our curriculum meets diverse learning needs, and we support the whole child with a focus on social emotional well-being and robust extracurricular opportunities.

I am honored to lead our dedicated D60 team and proud to serve a community that is passionate about ensuring the needs of ALL students are met!
