To all who celebrate, Merry Christmas from all of us in Maercker D60! 🎄

Before break, Westview Hills students in Spanish class were caroling in Spanish! Through practicing pronunciation, learning cultural context, and working together, they are building both language skills and confidence. This experience not only strengthens their Spanish proficiency but also allows them to share joy and culture with others. Westview is proud of our students for embracing this opportunity with creativity, teamwork, and a positive spirit! #D60learns

The Student Leadership Team at Westview Hills organized the first student recognition assembly of the school year to celebrate students’ participation and achievements in after-school activities. Highlights included performances from the Variety Show and the cheerleaders, followed by a clean sweep by the teachers in the Minute-to-Win-It games. Notable victories included Mrs. Moffett’s triumph in the Whitney Houston Challenge, Mr. Hosman’s win in Heads, Shoulders, Knees, Cup, and the teacher team’s overall victory in the balloon challenge. Thank you to the Student Leadership Team for your consistent work to create fun events and opportunities! #d60learns

Our buildings will be closed starting next week for Winter Break. We will see everyone on Jan. 5. Have a great and restful break!

A huge shout out to the Westview Hills Elf on the Shelf for bringing the holiday cheer to students in the last weeks before break! Completely unrelated, thanks to Dr. Scott for his leadership and commitment to staff and students.

Thank you to the Westmont Fire Department for coming to D60 to greet students with High Five a Fireman! Students really enjoyed it. #d60learns

Third graders recently had a special visit from the Mayor of Westmont, Police Chief, and Deputy Fire Chief. They had been learning about local government through their studies of the Roman Empire, so their class welcomed these speakers to discuss their roles in government — how the mayor was elected, the chiefs were appointed, and what their focuses are within the community. The kids then had time to ask questions. #d60learns

Today the Westview Hills Elf on the Shelf was just hanging with his buddy Earl as students arrived.

Last night, the Gold Band and Jazz Band put on an amazing winter concert that truly showcased the talent and dedication of our students.!
The evening concluded with a joyful sing-along that brought performers and audience members together and created a memorable sense of community. Westview is incredibly proud of our students for their hard work, musicianship, and enthusiasm, and we are grateful to the staff who helped make the event such a success. #d60learns #d60celebrates

Kindergarteners have been learning all about animals, including the six groups of animals (mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates) and what they need in order to survive. They learned that they need healthy food, clean water, clean air, a safe place to sleep, and space to move around. These students now know what makes an animal alive, what makes an animal an animal, and how an animal is alive like a plant, but how they are very different! #d60learns
