Maercker Intermediate is kicking off the second year of Run Club! Students are able to get some exercise at recess by earning a punch on their card for each lap and can earn charms for their mileage card necklace by filling up a card! #d60runs
Students in second grade have been reading about New York in their phonics studies. Mrs. Blake worked with teachers to extend learning to learn more about other states. Students were able to spin the wheel to pick a new state to research and were able to share their research, and learn more about Google tools by making a True/False quiz game for their peers on Google Slides. #d60learns
Kindergarten students in our dual language program recently created a research project on endangered animals. They chose an animal to research, learned what the animal needs to survive, why it's endangered, and how we can help preserve their habitats. They used their research to create a news report with the green screen to share what they have learned in Spanish! #d60learns

Seventh grade students at Westview Hills chose topics which were important enough for them to bring awareness to the problem, causes of the problem, effects/outcomes, and potential solutions. What a great way to get students involved in civic engagement! #d60learns
First grade was learning how people create stories and were able to create their own stop motion animation stories together. They made up their own characters, setting and story, sculpted their characters, and used their own drawings for the settings! #d60learns

Holmes had a lot of fun celebrating World Read Aloud Week by having local author Laura Smetana visit! She read her books and shared how she illustrated each story. The students were all able to draw with her and were so excited to engage with the author/illustrator! #d60learns
Staff and students LOVE the March Madness of Books at Holmes School. The book, Interrupting Chicken Cookies for Breakfast, won the final match! Thanks to Mrs. Wenc for really getting the kids excited with her chicken costume to support the book she read! #d60learns

Second grade students are preparing to go on a field trip soon to the Field Museum, so they read a silly story about dinosaurs at school! They recreated their own version by practicing their typing skills to tell a creative story about what they think the dinosaurs would do in our school if they were let free! #d60learn
Second graders at Holmes Elementary School had a visit from teachers from Willowbrook Wildlife Center, a division of DuPage Forest Preserve. They learned about owls and how they are designed to survive as well as learned about camouflage, feathers, claws, and even got to dissect an owl pellet. Thank you to the Willowbrook Wildlife Center and DuPage Forest Preserve for an awesome experience! #d60learns
