Here’s an awesome program that we do with our partners at Hinsdale School District 86. They offer a yearly course called Invitation to Teach, which is a wonderful opportunity for high school seniors to explore the world of education before they begin their formal college training. Students in the class explore education theory and practice, and then have the opportunity to intern at a local school for approximately 13 weeks. During the internship, the student interns help classroom teachers with a variety of different teaching tasks including grading, copying, bulletin boards, working with small groups, teaching the whole class, organizing the classroom, lesson planning, and much more! This year at Westview we have two students from Hinsdale South, Tommy M. who is teaching with Mrs. LaPointe in 7th grade social studies and Haidee Y. who is teaching with Mrs. Lathrop in 7th grade science. Haidee is also a former Maercker D60 student and it is so awesome to be able to welcome our students back like this! We are always happy to pair with our feeder high schools to provide this opportunity to our future educators.

The Westview Hills Cross Country teams continue to excel! Westview recently hosted the Wildcat Invitational at Central Park in Bolingbrook. 14 other schools competed against Westview on the two mile course. In the varsity race, Westview was led by Santi who won the race while running a personal best time of 10 minutes and 42 seconds! This is fourth fastest time by a Westview boy in school history! He was followed by Mesfin in 4th, Braden in 7th, Kasper in 10th, and Emmett in 11th who all won medals for finishing in the top 15. Our boys won the varsity race and continued their undefeated season. In the open race, 10 of the 15 medals went to Westview runners. It was a dominant showing led by Ryder P. who won his 2nd race of the season! He was followed by Theo in 2nd, Jack in 3rd, Isaac in 4th, Aayush in 6th, Matthew in 8th, Owen McKinniss in 9th, Shashank in 10th, Oskar in 11th, and Miles in 15th. So many of our boys ran their best times of the season and should be proud of their race Saturday. A special thanks to Mrs. Wolf Golbach, Mr. Visby, and Dr. Scott for helping at the meet!
