We are so proud of Braden D. for being recognized as the At Large IESA Scholar Attitude Award winner! There were 15 division recipients and one at large award recipient. This award honors students who participate in multiple activities, excel in academics, and display excellent sportsmanship and leadership. During his three years at Westview Hills, Braden has participated in golf, cross country, basketball, volleyball, and track & field as well as additional outside extracurricular activities. What is your best memory of your time in Maercker District 60?
Being in the middle school musical that got me into musicals and had me make new friends and strengthen friendships.
What are you interested in doing for your future?
In high school, I want to be in band and participate in more musicals. As an adult hopefully I’ll be an electrical engineer.
What advice do you have for students starting at Westview Hills Middle School next year?
Don't stress too much about lockers and walking and learning your schedule in sixth grade!

Westview Hills won the IESA Sportsmanship Award for the 2024-25 school year! Out of all the IESA member schools, 19 schools were selected to be recognized for this award. Elena V. and Braden D. represented Westview Hills at the second annual IESA celebration of excellence to receive the award. What is your best memory of your time in Maercker District 60?
When I popped a ketchup packet by accident and it went on the ceiling, the ground, my sweater, my eyes, my face, the teachers desk, and the floor. Also I really liked the Washington, D.C. trip because one time there was a Capoeira dance thing that was going on and some people joined in and it was really funny.

What are you interested in doing for your future?
Probably working with fish or aquatic animals, like an aquarist or something like that.
What advice do you have for students starting at Westview Hills Middle School next year?
Don't pop ketchup packets in school, have fun, and ask for help if you need it.

What is your best memory of your time in Maercker District 60?
My best memory of Westview is probably the last day of school. Getting to watch/play in the kickball tournament, watching Dr. Scott get pied in the face, and just spending time with everyone before we all go on summer break is so much fun.
Who is a teacher who made an impact on you during your time here?
Mrs. Kozina and Mrs. Collins, they really listen when you talk and are just an awesome teacher duo.
What are you interested in doing for your future?
Becoming a surgeon
What advice do you have for students starting at Westview Hills Middle School next year?
My advice is to not be worried because everyone coming in is feeling the same way. Also to just have fun and make use of your time because it's gone before you know it.
The Illinois Principals’ Association recognizes outstanding 8th graders at the IPA Breakfast each spring. Students are recognized for their strong academics, leadership skills, service and dedication to others, and consistently following the school’s expectations. The Westview Hills 8th grade team selected Vincent M. and Zayna A. as this year’s award recipients and they were able to attend the breakfast yesterday along with Dr. Scott. Congratulations Vincent and Zayna!

The talented students of Westview Hills Middle School Drama Club are presenting Frozen Jr. with performances later this week! Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students (All Holmes and Maercker students will receive a free ticket but must attend with a parent who purchases a ticket at the door). Check out the cast and don’t miss the shows taking place on Friday, May 2 at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 3 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 4 at 2 p.m. The Blue Cast will be performing in the evenings and the Silver Cast will handle the matinee performances!
Carley is up for Ask an 8th Grader! She will be attending Hinsdale Central and says that Ms. Pervan and Ms. Radke were both teachers who made an impact on her. Her best D60 memory is, “Enjoying time with my friends specifically in 8th grade. The D.C. trip was a fun time to get closer.” She hopes to play basketball in her future and tells future students to, “Enjoy your time while it lasts and don’t get involved in drama because it goes by really fast, especially your 8th grade year.”
Join us tomorrow (Saturday, April 26) at the Indian Boundary YMCA Healthy Kids Day event! There will be obstacle courses, camp information, opportunities to meet with local health and wellness organizations, a free throw challenge, games, prizes, and fun!
Anya is today’s featured 8th grader. She will be attending Hinsdale South and says her favorite memory of her time in D60 is the trip to Washington, D.C. She says she is possibly interested in being a civil engineer in the future and that Mrs. Pervan is a teacher who made an impact on her. Her advice for future students is to, “Try new things and just try to have a good time!”
Beginning band members at Maercker had rehearsal outside as they prepare for their spring concert on Wednesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. in the Maercker Gym. The Maercker Chorus will be performing, too so don't miss it!
Westview Hills Physical Education classes are so excited to have Sauvé back for another year! Sauvé is a professional Hip Hop Dancer, Choreographer and Motivational Speaker. We are excited to have Sauvé join our dance unit.
Sauvé brings a fun and positive experience to our students with a variety of hip hop dance moves intertwined with positive motivational talks. Students with no dance experience to full dance experience can’t wait to come to their Physical Education class to see and hear what Sauvé has in store for them!
His approach to teaching goes beyond just showing you how to move. He implements a philosophy where you will learn to appreciate and better understand the art of dancing as well as oneself as an individual. The dance lessons and motivational talks are one of the highlights of the year for the students!

What is your best memory of your time in Maercker District 60?
My best memory at Maercker School was my first dance in 6th grade.
Who is a teacher who made an impact on you during your time here?
A teacher that made a very big impact on my time here is Ms. Badalamenti, a 5th grade ELA teacher. She encouraged me to have a passion for reading and writing. She also showed that school can be very full of new stories and experiences. Personally, I know she cared about each one of her students.
What are you interested in doing for your future?
In the future I am interested in going to college to study to work in Architecture or Computer Engineering.
What advice do you have for students starting at Westview Hills Middle School next year?
My advice for upcoming Westview Hills Middle School students is to not be afraid to communicate to teachers or even peers about concerns or questions they may have. In my experience at Westview Hills, I know that all teachers just want to help students succeed.

Taking part in Westview’s jazz band all three years and making music with the group and an amazing teacher Mrs. Moffett.
